Day 9: Villatuerta to Los Arcos

Leaving Villatuerta in the cool morning air I made good time for the first hour and then stopped for breakfast at a Hotel with a reasonable menu. Then on to Estella where I browsed a store for a few items I wanted.

Leaving Estella I went past the Monasterio de Irache where there is a water fountain and right next to it a wine fountain.

I walked on to Azquerta and stopped for some lunch at a neat cafe just off the central road.

The next place on the road was Villamayor de Monjardin. I was ready to stop there but there was no available bed. I plodded on to Los Arcos, 12.1 additional km. I was glad to see the town come into view and seized the first bed I was offered, a private room in a small pension.

Distance to date: 136km. 643 km to go.

Los Arcos sign – very welcome
